Abatement and Consistency Philosophy

By Lance Winslow So often our abatement policies are inconsistent and not because circumstances are much different, but because the users of the abatement products and chemicals just do not understand chemistry or how the chemicals are able to do their job. If a chemical is to be used on an area, which needs to be abated it must be used in the right ratios of course, yet if you take the abatement chemical and spread it evenly and properly over a large area then you are not necessarily attacking the real problem in that you are not putting it onto the clusters of the pest or problem needing to be abated. It would be far better of course to put the proper amount of chemicals onto the clusters directly. Similar to a weed spraying truck driving along a levee and spraying individual weeds, however this in not always possible to do in large areas, yet if other methods are used then the chemicals are abused and over used and everyone loses later on. Rather than over use or nuking the problem it would be better to solve these issues in a more measured out manner and more targeted of course too. I would propose the use of a special camera, which shows shades of different colored light on the area and allow for detection of the real problems and clusters and then use that as the battle plan for application onto the most urgent clusters of the nuisance or pest.
