For the Health Conscious - Send Them a Fruit Gift Basket

By Tom Turner If you are thinking of a special gift to send a friend or family member and who is conscious about what they eat then why not think about sending them a fruit gift basket on that special occasion. A fruit gift basket will not only contain all the healthy items that they love but will show that you have thought carefully about their own personal needs and requirements. It also reflects what good taste you have as well as being a truly healthy treat that they can enjoy. A good quality fruit gift basket is packed with the freshest fruits available at that time of the year and you will find that they will include the best seasonal fruits also. But if you want to save yourself some money then why not make your own gift fruit basket instead. However, if you do decide to go this route ensure that you only use the best quality and freshest fruit available and if at all possible use organic fruit. However if you decide to purchase your fruit gift basket online you will find that the basket will be shipped directly from the grower and so this ensures that the fruit is as fresh as the day it was picked. Also you may well find that included with the fresh fruit in the basket will be dry fruits and nuts as well such as almonds, raisins and cashew nuts. The great thing about receiving a fruit gift basket is that they can be decadent and luscious and yet the recipient will not feel guilty when they start eating the contents. Certainly for many centuries now the presentation of a fruit gift basket is one of the oldest traditions and is still considered to be a unique way of telling somebody how much they mean to you and how you care for them. Centuries ago it was normal for a fruit gift basket to be presented to a king of a country at special events in order to show appreciation, worthiness and the generosity of the person that was presenting it. So if you are looking for a way to show someone just how much they are appreciated and yet will not affect their healthy way of life or even push them into leading a more healthy lifestyle then a fruit gift basket may be just what you should send them. How to Lose Weight without Exercise

By Janice Elizabeth Small Most weight loss programs advise some kind of exercise alongside modifying your diet. And without doubt, exercise does make a difference if you can keep it up. The trouble is that most of us start out fully committed to an hour long gym program three times a week and then find it's all too much. Either we don't have the time or we don't have the energy or we just can't be bothered with the getting there, getting changed, getting going - not with all the other things going on in our life. It's simply one big effort too far when we're tired and overloaded. If it's one of those days when you just can't see your way to a full-blown exercise session (and even if every day is one of those days) make yourself feel better and use up some calories with mini-activities. This can be as little as
a walk around the block
taking a single flight of stairs instead of the lift
spending 5 or 10 minutes tidying your home
walking over to chat to someone in your office instead of emailing
kicking a ball with your children in the garden before tea
making alternate circles with your feet while talking on the phone
holding your tummy in when you're stuck in traffic
getting up to switch over the channel instead of using the remote Every time you do something, anything at all, you're adding to your fitness bank and burning calories. Try to do something whenever you think about it during the day. And give yourself a pat on the back each time you do it. Some recent research has shown that slimmer people actually use up to 350 calories more a day than overweight people just in everyday activity - even if they don't do any formal exercise and sit down all day at work. The calories are used up just by moving around a bit more in the course of the day. That's enough calories used to make (or lose) a pound of fat every ten days! So if you can't or don't want to get to the gym, just remember every little counts and have an active day every day anyway! Chicago Personal Injury Lawyer FAQs

By Jason Gluckman In Chicago, personal injury is often caused by various accidents such as workplace accidents, slip and falls, medical malpractice, and car accidents. Because of these, victims need to hire the services of a Chicago personal injury lawyer in order to recover for damages. But since there are lots of personal injury lawyers these days, it is rather hard to choose one who is really competent and highly reliable. So, to better arrive at the best decision, people should be aware of some Chicago personal injury FAQS in order to have an insight about them. What personal injury lawyers do? Personal injury lawyers assist victims who suffered from physical injuries due to the negligence of another person. They help them in evaluating their cases in order to fully determine who is at fault. And once this is determined, they will assist the victim in filing a personal injury lawsuit in order to receive a personal injury claim. But before a victim can collect this, they should be able to prove that the defendant is liable and that there is indeed negligence on their part. What is a personal injury claim? A personal injury claim is an amount that a victim of personal injury can demand to compensate for the damages he suffered due to the defendant's negligence. This claim can include payment for medical bills, lost wages, and mental agony and emotional stress. The first two can be easily quantified but the last one requires the expertise of a personal injury lawyer in order to tabulate this. However, when the negligence is not fully established, this claim may be denied that is why it is advisable that the victim should note down every important detail that is related to the event. What is contingency fee? A contingency fee is considered the most common payment arrangement for victims who are seeking legal representation in personal injury lawsuits. This means that when the lawyer proves the negligence on the part of the defendant and the victim receives compensatory damages, he will be entitled to a percentage of this amount as payment for his services. But, if the case is denied, the victim will not have to pay any amount. These are just some of the Chicago personal injury lawyer FAQs that people should know. This information may not be significant to some people, but this can be of great help to those who are victims of personal injury. Foods That Promote Weight Loss

By Kerry Mott Most of us think of losing weight is based primarily on lowering calorie intake and exercise; Its totally true and its common sense! Burn more calories than you take in and the question is not if you will lose weight but at what rate will you shed those pounds and get rid of fat. To give your weight loss program jumpstart, try to incorporate foods that actually help your body promote weight loss by eating foods that make you feel less hungry. Youll get surprisingly powerful results by incorporating exercise, lower calorie intake, COMBINED with eating foods that promote weight loss. Below is a diet concept that is getting fantastic sustained results for many many dieters. Eat foods with a LOW GI Index It is reported that any foods with low Glycemic Index ( GI ) (which are foods that raise your blood sugar level SLOWLY after eating), are what you want to eat. Eating low GI index foods will also help you feel fuller and less hungry. Typically, foods with high GI cause a spike in blood sugar which is then followed with a crash effect that usually triggers your appetite SNACK TIME ! And usually junk food is what youre grabbing for. So stick with low GI foods and get off the appetite YO-YO! Good examples of low GI foods
-Lowfat Yogurt
-Low fat milk
-Lentils (good source of fiber)
-Black beans
-Apples
-Oranges
-low-sugar cereals
-Grapefruit
-Tomatoes
-Cherries Eat Foods High in Fiber The media has all made us numb from its relentless push to sell high fiber, however there is truth in the message, its not hype. High fiber foods are typically low in calories. Also there is evidence that supports the notion that fiber slows down the absorption of sugar. Try for about 30 grams of dietary fiber a day. Drink Oolong (Wu-long) Tea A substance called "Polyphenol" in Wu-Long tea is known to effectively control obesity by speeding the metabolism. Specifically speaking, it activates the enzyme that is responsible for dissolving triglyceride. It has been confirmed that the continuous intake of oolong tea contributes to enhancing the function of fat metabolism and to controlling obesity. Wu-long also steps up your metabolism by about 10% causing you to burn more calories especially after eating. Even if you did nothing ( granted you make no dietary changes) you could still very easily lose 10-15 pounds over a years time, by just adding wu-long tea to your diet. To Summarize So basically a little long term planning, dicsipline, exercise and positive can-do attitude are key in losing weight. Knowing that certain foods ( Low GI ) and Beverages ( wu-long , oolong tea) are actually going to help you lose weight should also be encouraging ( Dieters are reporting 2-3 pound loss per week following these types of programs.)
Many people are favoring these types of diet approaches over many of the more stringent diets that ban all carbs and only allow protiens. It's easier and more realistic because you have the freedom to eat a wide variety of protiens and carbs.. even milk chocolate and ice cream is ok within limits! For the serious dieter, eating foods that promote weight loss should yield great results because you'll never get the feeling you can't enjoy eating...it is defintely a lifestyle-longterm dieting approach.
